Pinegrove Cadets Scale Deo Tibba

In an endeavour to sensitize and generate awareness about global warming and its adverse effects on glaciers and water resources, a team of 13 members undertook a mountaineering expedition to Mt. Deo Tibba (Mountain of Gods), 19688ft (6001meters). The contingent was flagged off from the School by the Executive Director, Capt. A. J. Singh on 1st June. They were given a warm welcome at Manali and the expedition was flagged off by the IMF President Col. H.S. Thakur, SDM Manali, Mrs. Jyoti Rana and ASP Kullu, Mr. NishchintNegi on 2nd 0f June. The expedition was conducted under the aegis of IMF New Delhi, ABVIMAS Manali and NCC. Mr. Baldev, former Everester and DIG Home Guards was the technical advisor for the expedition. Crossing over open crevasses and heading through snowstorms and temperatures as low as -20 degrees, the 13 member team reached the summit and unfurled the school flag on 12th June at 6am and returned safely to the base camp to make the event successful. Aditya Raj Swami, Pranoy, Karan Yuvraj, Jasmehar Singh Mann, Harshdeep Singh, Akshit Jain, Shaurya Bhardwaj, Vanij Singla, Navyudai Kapoor, Vaibhav Rattan and Adwithya Sharma were the core members of this expedition.They were accompanied by Mr. Singha and Mr. Vinnet Thakur. The team also undertook the Himalayan cleaning drive and brought back 13 kg of non biodegradable waste lying enroute. It was a great achievement for the young team, the team leader Lt Sanjay Singha congratulated the young students for their stupendous performance and advised them to keep the earth clean and green for future generations.
