Grovian Girls Conquer Mt. Yunam
The all girls mountaineering expedition to Mount Yunam, 6118 metres was flagged off from Subathu location of the school on 5th August by the Head Teacher, Devender Kumar Verma. The team consisted of 13 girl cadets and was lead by the Administrative Head, Capt. Renu Sharma who was assisted by another faculty member, Ms. Meenu Brar. The expedition was conducted under the able guidance of Himalayan Bagpackers. Yunam Peak is situated in CB region of Lahaul Spiti, facing several other massifs like, CB range and Mulkilla range. Udita Singh, Anusha, Anindhya Soin, Samridhi, Sharika Negi, Ekampreet Kaur, Diksha Singla, Vidhi, Jaspreet Johar, Mukta, Vrinda Mittal, Shruti Bajaj and Ahshi Chauhan are the girls who have explored new heights through this expedition. This unnamed peak was named PGS-25 to commemorate the 25th year of the school. The school has been promoting and successfully conducting various mountaineering expeditions under Round Square and IAYP. In a time when both the genders are considered not just equals but are working head to head to prove their supremacy over each other, this expedition was even more distinct and special as it had all female participants. The 25th year celebrations of the school have become even more significant and memorable with girls having taken up this noteworthy tour.
