Pinegrove Cyclists On Road From Manali to Leh
Adding another feather in the cap of expeditions to celebrate the successful completion of 25 glorious years of Pinegrove, a cycling expedition was flagged off from the Subathu location of the school by Capt. A. J. Singh, Executive Director of the School on 28th July, 2016. The expedition team consisted of 11 boy cadets and was lead by the Head of Sports Mr. Surinder Mehta. He was ably assisted by Mr. Nikhil Sharma. The trip began from Manali, lying to north of the Pir Panjal range, marked by the 3978 Mts. high Rohtang pass, just 52 km from Manali. The journey went through many high passes, such as Baralacha La (4800 Mts.), Nakeela Pass, Lachlung La (5000 Mts.), Tanglang La (5362 Mts) and Khardung La at 5600m / 18380ft. Khardungla is the world’s highest motorable road in the world. Aryan Bajaj, Aditya Soni, Amitoj Singh, Arnav Negi, Sannidhya Rana, Chirag Singh Jeji Shergil, Yatin Jain, Ankit Aggarwal, Karanbir Singh Sethi, Vishesh Kalsi, Shiv Singh and an Old Grovian, Harshveer Bajwa got a life time experience through this expedition. The team took up this formidable challenge and completed it despite the odds of rugged terrain, high altitude conditions, snow covered tracks and rainy conditions. The expedition aimed at building leadership qualities, camaraderie, team spirit and resolution to achieve victory against all odds through determination and indomitable spirit.
