Pinegrove Girls Emerge Champions in Under-17 Girl`s Soccer



Once again our girls encrypted their name in history by lifting the under-17 All India IPSC Girls’ Soccer tournament 2016 which was hosted by Mayo College Girls’ School, Ajmer. Displaying exemplary discipline, fair play and perfect goal tending, our girls gave a worthy account of themselves. In the first match, our footballers triumphed over VDJS, Hisar and a fine display of coordination guided our girls to a victory in the second match played against Modern School, New Delhi. In a thrilling encounter, our tigresses registered a hard fought 2-1 win over the host team thereby, making a place for themselves in the semifinals. In the semifinal match, Sangay and Memsa each netted a brace to steer PGS to a comfortable 2-0 win over BBV, Pilani. In the concluding match played against DC, Indore, our girls struck 4 unanswered goals thereby stamping their superiority in the tournament. Based on their exemplary throughout the tournament, Sangay Ongmu Lepcha, Passang Dikki Sherpa, Rongmit Lepcha, Lhamit Lepcha, Neha Sharma, Memsa Subba have been selected for SGFI Nationals. The girls also secured a berth in the Subroto Cup’2016, which holds a distinction of being Asia’s largest and most prestigious youth football tournament.
